About M Howells Services

Delivering structured building and refurbishment programmes since 2002.

M Howells Services is a family-owned building and refurbishment contractor working across social housing, public sector estates and commercial property.

For more than two decades we have supported councils, housing providers and Tier 1 contractors with controlled delivery, direct labour and strict health and safety standards.

Our focus is on refurbishment, upgrades, conversions and extension projects, many of which are delivered within live residential environments where safety, compliance and programme control are essential.

Our Background

Established in 2002, M Howells Services has developed a strong reputation for reliable delivery across the Midlands and surrounding regions. Over the years we have built long-standing relationships with local authorities, housing providers and national contractors who rely on our experience and disciplined approach to construction.

We are regularly invited to tender for projects rather than actively seeking work, reflecting the confidence our clients place in our ability to deliver projects safely, efficiently and within programme.

Our work includes refurbishment programmes, property upgrades, internal reconfiguration projects, accessibility adaptations and building extensions, all delivered with a focus on quality, compliance and accountability.

Workforce Wellbeing & Mental Health

At M Howells Services we recognise that construction work can place significant pressure on individuals both inside and outside of the workplace. Supporting the wellbeing of our workforce is therefore an important part of maintaining a safe and responsible working environment.

In September last year we appointed a dedicated Mental Health Officer, an experienced mental health nurse whose role is focused entirely on supporting the wellbeing of our employees and managers. This service is available confidentially to both employees and subcontractors, providing a safe and professional environment where individuals can seek support.

Our Mental Health Officer regularly holds sessions with site operatives to explain the support available and to introduce practical mental health awareness tools. These sessions encourage open conversations about wellbeing and provide guidance on recognising when support may be needed.

This year we have also signed up to the Mind Mental Health at Work Commitment. The directors meet quarterly to review our wellbeing initiatives and ensure that the support available to our workforce continues to develop.

As an organisation we chose to employ a dedicated Mental Health Officer rather than appoint internal mental health champions. This ensures our workforce has access to a qualified professional who can offer independent, confidential support whenever it is needed.
